Salzburg Salz is a unique place where tradition, innovation, and modernity blend together, like delicate salt crystals melting on your tongue. It’s a space where you can always discover something new.

My name is Carina, and as the owner of Salzburg Salz, I am particularly excited to share my passion for “white gold” with you.

about me

Born in Salzburg in 1994, I am deeply connected to this region. I spent my childhood by the beautiful Wolfgangsee in the Salzkammergut, an area that profoundly shaped my love for nature and its remarkable treasures. With a degree in graphic and communication design from HTBLuVA Salzburg and a subsequent German studies program, I initially pursued a completely different path. At that time, no one would have predicted that salt would become my calling. But life has its surprises—and for me it happened during my studies when I stumbled into the world of salt by chance. What started as a small side job quickly became my greatest love.

Since 2017, I’ve been working in our salt shop, starting in back-office operations and soon expanding to purchasing, production, and direct customer service. This versatility and constant learning still shape my work today. In 2019, I took over the management, and the following year I became the sole owner. Since then, I have been running Salzburg Salzwith dedication, mostly as a “one-woman show,” with a small, family-like team assisting me in the shop.

Every salt you find in our shop has been personally selected by me or produced according to a company recipe and packaged and labelled in close cooperation with regional manufacturers from Salzburg and the surrounding area. Almost all of our exquisite salts come from small production batches that involve a lot of manual labour. It is important to me that each product is of the highest quality and has been created with attention to detail, so that I can stand behind each one 100 per cent.

Our salt shop is more than just a store—it’s a place for connoisseurs and explorers. As an enthusiastic hobby chef, I constantly test new recipes and salt creations. I love to share my knowledge with customers, offering personal advice on how to use and appreciate our salts. I also enjoy trying new things, such as hosting salt tastings on festival Sundays, where I present my own salt blends. You’ll often find me in the shop, where I assist my team and look forward to chatting with you—because every conversation is as valuable to me as the salt we offer.

We aim to highlight the special cultural importance of salt as well as its rich diversity, honoring this natural product in all its facets. That is why our salt specialty store is not only a place where you can find high-quality local salt varieties but also where you can experience and taste the contrast with salt from around the world.

By combining regional tradition with global diversity, we want to present salt as it truly is: an indispensable companion in the kitchen for creating all-encompassing, unique, exciting, or even new flavors and taste experiences, as well as a culturally significant heritage both locally and internationally.
